School and such

This week has been busy with school work - in history we have started with the topics of the Ancient Greek, in site studio we did a analysis of three sites in Mendon Ponds Park, a bit different than what I've done in earlier projects but good. In the furniture class I decided what utility to make, afraid it doesn't really has anything to do with built enviroment but I see this as a small project just to try out the technic and get a feeling for it for my next project! So the utility I'm making will be a cooking spoon with a cat head! Sounds kinda silly but it'll be fun :) In the drawing class we're continuing with trying out our different tools and practising on line drawing.

This week I've also done some other things; I went to three different club meetings. The first one was for Vis Viva Dance club where we introduced ourselves, got to know a bit about the club and the e-board. Tomorrow they will hold auditions for those who wanna join, might go! Second meeting was for the outing club, they had a short presentation that wasn't that serious and told us about trips they've planned. They do outdoor things like hiking and canoeying(?). Third meeting was Afroblaze club which is an African dance club. When I came to the room I quickly realised I was the only white person in there haha! I felt so awkward, but tried not to think about it. They told us about the club and then we did a name game where you say your name and make a movement from the syllabus of your name. After that we did some sort of dance circle and everyone was good! They said they did workshops so I might stick to going to them. On the Wednesday I met a new girl, Rose, she has lived in the US for 10 years but is originally from China. She was very nice and we decided we would cook together once she's moved into her new place close to RIT. Alos, I cut my hair! so it's shorter now :) Sathurday I spent studying, was suppose to go shopping with some other people but I was away all day today so cancelled that plan. In the evening Shinee and our Indian friend called Varnit went ice skating! Their is a place at RIT and we paid $5. Varnit had never tried it before so he went around the rink holding on to the rail. I was a bit unstable since I haven't skated in a while but it went pretty well!

Today is Labor Day in America = no school! Our friend Sarah had invited us to go with her friends and parents to Seabreeze Amusement park. Her dad got a deal with his job, so that if we participated in the Labor Day Parade in town we would get entrence to waterpark and amusementpark+food at Seabreeze for $15! Normally it's probably like $30-$40! We left RIT just before 9 am and went to a place called Jay's Diner, a REAL diner!! It looked so much like in the movies with 50's interior and the menus. I had scrambled eggs, bacon and American pancakes, yum! After that we drove to Sarah's house to meet her parents and then into town to walk in the parade. People were cheering and yelling "Happy labor day" and some played music as well. It was fun to be a part of an American tradition. Once we were finished we headed to Seabreeze which is located next to Lake Ontario(looked like the sea, not a lake!). We went on a couple of rides, had lunch and then Sarah and I switched to swimsuit and enjoyed the water rides. We met up with the other about two hours later and changed back into clothes and did some more rides before heading back to RIT. I had a lot of fun and made two new friends, Kris and Brooke. Very exhausted now, so aiming for an early evening. Goodnight!
