End of summer holiday

Thursday: The morning begun with a meeting for all the exchange students at the Global Office. We got some general info about RIT and info about upcoming events etc. After that we(N, G and I) went to Marketplace Mall again and also visited Target where we bought some essentials. Later in the evening there was an event called Lighting the way which is a celebration to all the new female students at RIT. Men were also allowed to come but there were mainly girls in the audience. A few of the student clubs performed and the head of the organization for Women and Gender was hosting the event and she was really funny! After the short "show" we all went outside to get a lantern and then we marched along the Quarter Mile(a pedestrian area that runs from the residence buildings to the academic ones) into the Student Alumni buildning where several organizations for women presented their work at different tables and beverages was served. Nellie and I met a new girl, Sarah, who is from Rochester. The three of us checked out eachother's rooms and then we went to "Price It Right Game Show" which is based on a TV show where people are suppose to guess the right price on an item and if they do they can win cash. That program would probably not stand a change in Sweden! Way too commercially.. Also we realised how loud Americans are, whenever they needed a new person from the audience everyone screamed, jumped and waved to be picked, even our newly found friend x) After that we went to bed.

Friday: During the day we didn't do much, the heat makes you very exhausted so we had a calm day around campus. At about 16.30 we went to get tickets to a baseball game. RIT had arranged four different tours to go on and it was super popular cause when we arrived the line was already really long. We thought we wouldn't get tickets but we were lucky, got three of the last ones! Off we went into town and to Frontier Field Arena. None of us(G, N and me) had ever been to a baseball game and we didn't know much about the rules either.. The game started at around 19 and ended at 21.30, extremely long! You could buy food there as well but it was very expensive. I paid $4.25 for a small french fries... The game itself was entertaining once someone got a good hit but the atmosphere was very nice. Everyone was chatting and they played music and ordered the audience to cheer, clap and make noise. Rochester Redwings won the game, bu only because they got a homerun just before the game was over! At the end of the game the shut down all the lights and had a massive firework with music for about 10 minutes. So pretty! We came back late so we just headed for bed.

Sathurday: Today we also went to the mall! When we came back we had a look at the club fair for all the clubs at RIT. You can find pretty much anything! I signed up for animal shelter club, afrodance, Vis viva dance, outdoor club and thinking of joining a Greek sorority. Other clubs at the fair was anime club, rowing club, rock climbing club, Dumbledore's Army, book club etc. Over 200 clubs! In the evening there was an outdoor party with free food and good music. Lots of people to, so we stayed a few hours and then went to bed.

School expectations: Tomorrow school starts and from what I've heard it will be tough! I can imagine the studio course in architecture will be the most difficult one. Susan told me that for every hour the lesson is you are suppose to work double the time outside the lessons!! That would be like 4-8 more hours Mon, Wed, Fri :o
Hopefully the other courses aren't too heavy.. I should really go to bed now, big day tomorrow!! Night night!
